History
Our Story
Westwood Montessori began its journey in 1997. Originally, we had only planned on having a Daycare, Preschool and Out of School Care with a total of 110 spaces. But, due to demand for childcare and the positive response from parents in the area, we decided to expand and create an additional 50 spaces, encompassing a total area of 14,000 square feet. This eventually came to include a Toddler care program as well! Today, Westwood Montessori has three locations known as our Pinetree location which opened in 1997, Kingston location which opened in 2015, and our McVicar location which opened in 2020. All locations combined consist of six Daycare classes, three morning and afternoon Preschool classes, one Extended day preschool class, seven Toddler classes and six After School Care classes. The school has grown to meet the needs of the community, adapting and adding spaces according to demand and feedback. Westwood Montessori is dedicated to providing quality, affordable and flexible child care services and we hope to continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
Ownership and Management
Westwood Montessori is owned by Peter and Pasty Chern whom have over twenty years of experience working in the early childhood education field. In January 2002 Leah Stelnicki joined Westwood Montessori as a part-time employee in the out-of-school care program, then fulltime as a daycare teacher. In January 2013 she became the Manager of Westwood Montessori. She is a certified Early Childhood Educator and graduated from Western Montessori Teacher’s College in 2005. Stephanie Malysz became the acting Manager for the Pinetree location in April 2019. Stephanie joined Westwood Montessori in the Out-of-School Care program after graduating from Simon Fraser University in March 2018. Peter, Leah and Stephanie work closely together with the teachers and parents of Westwood Montessori to provide the best possible childcare environment.

Pinetree Location
The Westwood Montessori Pinetree Location has been open since 1997. It is located in Coquitlam on the corner of Pinetree and Grizzly street. This area features extensive greenbelts that protect many existing creeks and walking trails that we have had the privilege of enjoying over the years.

Kingston Location
The Westwood Montessori Kingston Location has been open since 2015. Our Kingston Facility is located on a corner plot between Kingston & Princeton street, safely surrounded by lavish green trees and walking trails.

McVicar Location
The Westwood Montessori McVicar Location has been open since 2020. It is located in Burke Mountain at the end of a cul-de-sac and features lots of greenery, walking trails and parks.
